Each available residence has its own queue. The queuing sitiatuation in the right-hand column tells you your own queue placing in relation to the total queue for accommodation. Note that the figures change during the booking period (expires at 24.00) depending on how many are in the queue as well as your queuing time in relation to them.
The queue for corridor rooms varies with the time of year and the highest demand is at the beginning of semester (Jan/Feb and Aug/Sept). Waiting time depends on the area you want to live in, the type of residence you want, and any priority. Many corridor rooms with moving-in dates 1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/8, 1/9 and 1/10 are earmarked for new students with "Novisch status priority". These residences are marked with an "N" in the list of vacansies.
There were 328 available corridor rooms with moving-in dates of 1 January-1 March 2010, and 489 with moving-in dates 1 August-1 Oktober 2010. Read more in CHAPTER 2 - SPECIAL LIST CONDITIONS FOR FRESHMEN about AF-Bostäders queuing and rental conditions. Average waiting time in 2010 was approx 6,5 months for a corridor room and approx 19 months for an apartment.
If you want to know your position in the queue, go to Available Accommodation. There you will see your place number in relation to the total booked for each residence. You can always see the date you started in the queue. Go to My Housing Application, under Other Data, to see your queue date.
We recommend you to first look at BoPoolen a website for housing advertisements run by Lund University Student Unions Associations. Here you can advertise for free if you are looking for housing in Lund and its vicinity. They also offer general advice on legal information, draft contracts and the housing situation in Lund.
Yes. Those who have terminated their rental agreement and will be moving out are required to show their apartment. But because of the new Personal Data Act (PuL) that protects all personal data against infringement of personal integrity, we cannot send out name and telephone number to those who live in the apartment. The only thing you can do is to go to the address and knock on the door and ask to see the place.
Your booking of a residence is binding, but you do have the possibility of cancelling your selected residence before the end of the booking period. In this way, your housing application remains current. The housing application is terminated- if you change your mind after the end of the booking period- if you receive an Offer of Contract sent to your home
The period of notice cannot be reduced.
If you plan to move out to a date earlier than the contract is terminated for, you should print and fill out this form (PDF) if you want to give someone the opportunity to move in during your notice period.
AF Bostäder will via e-mail inform the tenant who has chosen your apartment the possibility of earlier occupation. If the new tenant is interested in moving in at an earlier date he/she will contact you about agreement on compensation. Note that you cannot contact the new tenant and that you are always responsible for rent payments until the lease expires in accordance with the notice and that the keys should always be submitted at The Customer Service Centre.
Rent is payable in advance not later than the last working day of the month. Take care of your residence and your place in the queue - always pay in time and preferably by electronic invoice. Note that AF-Bostäder does not send out reminders for unpaid rent. Read more under Services/My rent
If you know at any time that you are going to have problems paying your rent on time, you should contact the Customer Centre on 046-19 15 00.Missing or delayed rental payments can lead to you losing your accommodation and/or your place in the housing queue.
For corridor rooms, June, July and August are usually rent-free; this is known as nine-month rental. Any exceptions will be given in the rental agreement. Note! If the tenancy begins during the summer months you pay rent for one of these in the first year.
For apartments, 12 months rent generally applies, but miner apartments (one room with a kitchenette) with 9 moths rent may occur.
Window-blinds do not normally form part of the rent except for tenants who live in Delphi (certain parts), Ulrikedal and in the Sparta corridor rooms. If you take over privately-purchased window-blinds or other equipment such as roller blinds, fitted carpets, mirror walls, extra refrigerators or washing machines, you are responsible for maintaining them and replacing them. Note that window-blinds supplied by AF-Bostäder must not be sold or taken away when moving out. If you are not sure about something, ask your House Caretaker!
Yes you can, but it must be done professionally.
All complaints are handled initially by your House Caretaker and after that by the Customer Centre. But if you are disturbed by, for instance, your neighbour’s music or noisy party, talk to your neighbour first of all. If this doesn’t help, contact your House Caretaker or the Customer Centre. You will find the telephone number under Contact Us.
AF Bostäder’s policy for heatingAF Bostäder’s goal is to keep a temperature of +20°C during the day and 18-20°C at night time 2200-0600. This is measured at 1 meter’s high with the radiators turned on and the windows closed. Furniture and long curtains in front of the radiators can block the circulation of the heating and can sometimes course the radiators to turn off.
