Novisch (new) at Lund

Starting at university requires a lot of preparation. We make it easy for you to apply for student accommodation with us. The three stages of the application process are explained below:

1. Get registered on afb.se
In order to be able to make a housing application on our homepage, you need to obtain log-in details. On www.afb.se you can select ‘Register’ and fill in the data. You will then immediately be sent an e-mail from us with username and password.

2. Make a housing application on afb.se
As long as you are admitted to or undertaking at least half-time study at Lund University and a member of Akademiska Föreningen you can have a place in our housing queue. Membership fee shall be paid as soon as the studies have begun. If in addition you are coming to the university for the first time and live outside commuting distance to Lund, you will be regarded as a ‘new student’ and can then have access to the accommodation reserved for new students. You will find more information on our queuing and rental conditions here.

Application period
New student status is available to everyone who meets the above requirements and logs in on www.afb.se to make a housing application during the period 12 July till 12 August. If you make your housing application during the period 12-15  July you will participate in the lottery for queue-places. The lottery takes place on 16 July. New Student status can only be used during autumn 2012.

3. Book and rent your room/apartment
As soon as your housing application is approved, you will be sent an e-mail with information on your queue place. For those who apply 12-15 July this is done after the lottery is completed, when you can log on to www.afb.se and reserve accommodation in ‘Available Rooms’. If you are first in the queue at the end of the booking period, you will be offered a rental contract along with an invitation to send us your admission certificate. As soon as we have checked that the information is valid, the room is yours. Once you have signed your tenancy agreement, you have expended your place on the list.

Update your application
If you make a new application directly after having received accommodation, it is important that you update your application with payment date for your Student union fee as soon as you have paid. This must be done the very first semester for your place in the queue to be valid.

Why the lottery?
Early application increases the chance of having a room from the start of the semester. We know that many students have summer jobs or for some other reason may not have the opportunity to check their admission message and get their application in early. For this reason, we hold a lottery for queue places for those who apply between 12-15 July.
