Premiere for the Green Room
AF Bostäder has taken a comprehensive approach to their bulky waste stations, to make them more inviting and pleasant to visit. Now the first Green Room at Vildanden has been inaugurated.
Waste is one of the more important sustainability aspects. In 2019, AF Bostäder renewed its goal for waste management and the new goal is to increase the percentage of sorted waste to 60% of the total waste volume by 2024. The focus now is to continue creating good conditions for the customers to sort their waste in an easier way. It should be perceived as clean, neat, and fun to sort the waste.
On Thursday, 2 July 2020, AF Bostäder opened the first Green Room (in Swedish: Gröna rummet). It is the bulky waste station at Vildanden, that has been converted to a Green Room, to make it more inviting and nicer to visit. In addition, the sorting possibilities have been further enhanced, among other things with a recycling shelf. Here, students can leave clean and intact things, and take something good home for free.
- The Green Room is a new concept that we strongly believe in, says Anna Malmström, Property Manager at AF Housing. The waste issue is important, and we try in different ways to find solutions that inspire students to sort more. The Green Room concept will be evaluated and hopefully we will see Green rooms in the other student housing areas in the future.
