AF Bostäder and Wästbygg are building 223 new student apartments in Lund
AF Bostäder has signed an agreement with Wästbygg to build Pireus, with 223 student apartments, as part of AF Bostäder's expansion at Kämnärsrätten in Lund. The apartments must be ready to move into during the autumn of 2023 and the order value is SEK 180 million excluding VAT.
- In a multi-year project, AF Bostäder is rebuilding the student housing area Kämnärsrätten into a long-term sustainable district, says Henrik Krantz, CEO of AF Bostäder. Two of the seven new housing areas are ready, a third is soon ready to move into and now construction begins on Pireus - a Nordic Ecolabelled housing area named after the Greek port city outside Athens. This will be an active and social neighborhood, planned so that everyone has room for peace and integrity.
Pireus consists of five buildings with sheet metal facades where downpipes in different colors form part of the facade's decoration. The housing area forms the entrance to the entire Kämnärsrätten and will be the start of Campuskilen, a walking, cycling and social trail that stretches through the area. Some of the buildings will have a basement plan for laundry room, bicycle garage and common study rooms. The main part of the apartments consists of 1 room and kitchen, but in the neighborhood, there will also be larger apartments for friends.
AF Bostäder and Wästbygg have prepared the system documents for Pireus in collaboration, a work that has been going on since last summer. During that phase, the companies have jointly placed great focus on sustainability and decided that the five residential buildings will be Nordic Ecolabelled. The labeling is done from a life cycle perspective where low energy use, high environmental and health requirements for materials and products, a good indoor environment, low emissions, and a quality-assured construction process are taken into account. Among other things, there will be solar cells on the roofs.
- Pireus is an excellent example of how collaboration in the early stages of the project creates both added value for the project and a greater consensus on the execution between the client and contractor. There is a great societal benefit in adding another 223 sustainable student apartments in this dynamic city and we now look forward to a continued good collaboration with AF Bostäder during the production phase, says Susanne Liljedahl, CEO of Wästbygg AB.
