What is best for the students is the best for Lund. The students are our client and by continuing to strengthen our relationship with the AF family and Studentlund, we can continue to deliver good products and services.
When the students choose between the classical university cities of Uppsala, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Lund, the choice is obviously about studies, but also a lot about feeling. An important issue is "where is the best student life". Then Lund stands in a class by itself with a wealth and a community that is unique in Sweden, thanks to the AF family.
-Studying is so much more than reading their books and graduating, says Henrik Krantz, CEO of AF Bostäder. The student community is attractive and we know that friendships and networks from study time follow the students through life, both privately and professionally. Many find friends for life in the corridor housing, in the nations, in the spex, in choirs and orchestras.
Student life in Lund is organized around corporations protecting political interests as well as nations offering leisure and housing. In addition, the Academic Association offers a wide range of cultural activities. In Uppsala, the nations are strong, even stronger than in Lund, but student life is not as cohesive and relatively different from urban life. In Stockholm and Gothenburg there is a good range but no clear relation between the different parts of the student life. Furthermore, competition from the cities of cities is large, which complicates cohesion.
-In Lund there is a student life and a community that is unique in Sweden, says Henrik Krantz. Here the students are part of the AF family, a trinity that connects students from all institutions and directions with each other. The AF family consists of the Akademiska Foreningen, AF-borgen and AF Bostäder, which together with nations and parties form the cooperation Studentlund.
The Academic Association has 11 different committees that run activities ranging from sports and media to wardrobes, writing circles and stage activities - all started by students for students. The AF sponsor is the obvious meeting point of student life, a big castle in the best possible location in the middle of Lundagård. In the AF sponsor there are the Academic Association's activities but also cafés, restaurants, scenes, party arrangements, conferences and much more - a well-organized epicenter with great flexibility and 100% student focus. AF Bostäder is the student's own housing company with a long relationship with the Academic Association, which gives Lund students a strong housing business with an eye for the students' needs.
-The AF family offers the students fun, gathering and student accommodation in one and the same body, says Henrik Krantz. Studentlund gives students access to all of Lund's student life in one single membership. There is no other study place in Sweden that can match such an offer.
Lund is a small town with a large university. In Lund there are no secluded campus areas, here the whole city is a single major campus with the most important university buildings and institutions located in the center.
-In Lund, the students and live side by side in symbios with the other residents of Lund, says Henrik Krantz. Student life is characterized by Lund, both purely academic and in city life and business, all the way from the student singers on April 30 to research-based activities such as Ideon, Max IV Laboratory and ESS. Every fourth year, we have Lundakarnevalen, a student-driven carnival of enormous measure that offers carnival trains, spex, musical performances and all sorts of indignation for several days. The carnival is not only aimed at students but engages all of Lund and the resorts around.
-Lund Student Life has a brand that is exceptionally strong, says Henrik Krantz. AF Bostäder has been developing side by side with AF, nations and corporations for 150 years - which today forms the collaboration Studentlund. That relationship is our engine and together we will continue to develop Lund as Sweden's best student city.
