Heating in your accommodation

AF Bostäder aims to maintain an even and comfortable indoor temperature in your accommodation throughout the year. Does your student housing feel cold? If so, there are several things you can do to improve comfort.

How the heating system works

The heating in your student housing is automatically adjusted according to the outdoor temperature. If the radiators feel cold, it may be because they do not start heating until the indoor temperature drops below 20°C.

According to AF Bostäder’s heating policy, the indoor temperature should be:

  • At least 20 °C during the day
  • 18–20 °C at night

Tip! Arrange your home to save energy

To help the heat circulate properly:

  • Don’t place large furniture in front of the radiators.
  • Don’t cover the thermostatic valve with curtains or other textiles.
  • Avoid using electric heaters, they interfere with the system and make temperature regulation more difficult.

How to measure the indoor temperature

Place a thermometer about 1 metre above the floor in the middle of the room. Make sure the radiators are set to maximum and all windows are closed. Ideally, the temperature should be measured over 24 hours. If the temperature is below 20 °C, make a fault report via Your Pages.

Emergency heating outage

In rare cases, heating may be suddenly cut off due to an urgent fault at our district heating supplier, Kraftringen. This means the radiators and hot water will stop working. For updates on any current outages, please visit Kraftringen’s website.

Heating and ventilation go hand in hand

For the heating to work properly, the ventilation must also function correctly. Vents bring in fresh air, which is then heated indoors. If the vents are blocked or not cleaned regularly, the indoor climate and temperature can be negatively affected.
